Tourist Information Center

 Tourist Information Center

Our Tourist Information Center is conveniently located at 10 Westbank Expressway (Hwy 90) next to the Seafood Market (lot). We are here to serve Tourists and Locals alike. Our goal at the Tourist Center is to welcome people from all over the globe who come to Westwego to enjoy our many attractions. For example, Bayou Segnette State Park is a sought after destination because of its ideal location and its many recreational opportunities like fishing, boating, camping, picnicking and swimming in the unique wave pool on the grounds.

In addition, The Westwego Historical Museum at 275 Sala Avenue is a quaint museum housed in the original General Merchandise Store which was owned and operated by Durac Terrebonne as the Fisherman’s Exchange. It operated from the late 1800’s until 1917 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Inside you will experience the history of The City of Westwego and see antiques and artifacts from life in the 1800s. You will also see the Grocery Store set up exactly as it was in the early 1900s. Last but not least, you will see original Cajun artifacts used by the Cajun people to make their living off the land.
