Cutcher Canning Company

The Cutcher Canning Company was part of the Seafood Industry that was the backbone of Westwego's economy. It was located at 110 Sala Avenue and was established in 1938 by Anthony Cuccia, Sr.
Dealing primarily with canned shrimp, the cannery was adjacent to the Hudson Seafood Company and was eventually acquired by Cutcher in 1947.
The anglicized version of the Cuccia family name became ''Cutcher'' which was used in the business.
The Cuccia family sold the cannery in 1982 and eventually it was permanently closed in 1988.
