Here is the latest update from the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority West:
We closed all 35 valves in our system today. We will close 19 of the remaining 26 Hurricane Protection System (HPS) floodgates tomorrow.
Boomtown, Highway 45 and Bayou Segnette boat launch will follow on Sunday.
19 floodgates on the Mississippi River will remain open. We are under a storm surge watch, which is predicted at 2-4 feet from Grand Isle to Ocean Springs, MS . Cristobal is expected to make landfall near Vermillion Bay around 7:00 PM Sunday. We will continue to send gate closure text alerts to mariners throughout this event. Gate closure status is as follows:
